Upstart Blogger is giving away a MacBook air and five free iPhones. Sounds like a sweet deal. It would be even sweeter if I won one!

Schwinn World Voyaguer

This is a 1973 Schwinn World Voyaguer I recently bought to convert to a fixed gear bike.

In case you don’t know, a fixed gear bike has one gear, and you can not coast as there is no freewheeling mechanism. This means you can slow and stop the bike by resisting against the pedals, and even pedal backwards. More about fixed gear bikes on Wikipedia.

To convert this to a fixed gear bike I will need a fixed hub on the back wheel. I’ll probably just get a wheelset with a fixed hub already installed as it will be easier and better in the long run. Then I’ll put a track cog on the wheel and use one chainring in the front and take the unused chainring off. I will also remove the front and rear derailleur as I will not need them. There are other little things you have to do to convert it to a fixed gear bike but you can find more about it at Sheldon Brown’s website - no need for me too go into to much detail as he covers it all.

I will post pictures of it after the conversion - God willing.

Tiny Maple Leaves

I noticed these leaves coming out on the maples yesterday, and took some pictures of them.

If you click on the picture you’ll go to an album with this and other pictures.

#1 Ohio State

The Buckeye’s definitely earned the #1 title against the Texas Longhorns last night in thier 24-7 win. Unfortunately the Buckeye’s kicks were nowhere near as good as Nugent’s or Houston’s kicks. Between Troy Smith, Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez the Buckeyes more than made up for lack of good kicking.

Happy Fathers Day!

I’d like to say Happy Fathers day to my Dad Who I will not call the “#1 Dad” as this is an overly used term apllied to millions of dads, but call him instead “Chumpion of Dads”. Sorry Dad - Just joking ;-)
